Now that the first game is here, we can see what all the fuss is about, and I've quite enjoyed the title. Actually, in several ways, I believe it's even cooler than Pokemon.
First, Yo-Kai Watch takes place in our world, and your character has normal kid worries. You are not some pre-teen who's tossed out into the crazy world to face down dangerous creatures and train them to engage in eccentric gladiatorial combat rites. You're a normal kid who desires to fit in with her (or his) friends and worries when her parents fight. However, I am proposing that Pokemon games could spend a little more time coping with stories that we can relate to as folks. The short episodes that make up the story of Yo-Kai Watch remind me of tiny anime episodes, and that's precisely what I've desired to see the Pokemon games do a bit more of when it comes to narratives.

The people in the Yo-Kai Watch world also feel more actual than Pokemon game folks. Everybody, from little kids to old people, in the Pokemon world, is obsessed with talking about Pokemon. Practically everybody you talk to gives you meta-game guidance about Pokemon or Pokemon-related services. They'ren't people; they are an lengthy tutorial delivery service. The folks in Yo-Kai Watch, on the other hand, have distinct personalities and problems that you can pick to help them with. Frequently these difficulties can be solved by summoning or dispelling a Yo Kai, but they don't understand that.
