In Pokemon Go, conflicts only happen at gyms. If you're preparing with your Pokemon at a friendly gym, you can pick one Pokemon to send out against your teammate. In case you are challenging an enemy gym, you can pick a squad of six Pokemon which will be sent out in turn.
If you happen to be in the "what is a Pokemon" stage of your investigation, we've made an additional guide: Six Pokemon Go tricks for the ultimate beginner.
You certainly can! Nicknames must simply be spelled with letters and numbers, and if you have a common name, you may already be out of luck: There are no duplicates allowed. (To whoever already took the name "Allegra," we've got our eye on you.) Naming apart, there are several skin tones, hair colors, and ensembles to choose from. The choice is slightly less varied than what's obtainable in Pokemon X and Y, for reference.
We're still in the early periods of Pokemon Go knowledge. There are many unanswered questions, such as, "Does pitching a spinning Pokball increase the chances of a successful capture?" But this guide will be enough to give you an advantage over your buddies and neighbors.
You can also help fortify gyms belonging to your team by training and testing your Pokemon there. A gym gets stature for each battle it wins, even if it's a player of its team. So you can battle against friendly Pokemon repeatedly until your gym gets another level, which will then open up another defensive spot, and allow you to contribute one of your Pokemon to the gym's fortification.
Swap for kinds: Swapping out a Pokemon leaves it vulnerable to attack for a number of seconds, so you might be reluctant to do it. But if you're able to swap for a type mismatch, like bringing out a Water Pokemon against a Fire enemy, it will be worth it so long as their CPs are close.
Don't let the Pokemon you need to leave at the gym pass out: If you successfully take a gym, you won't be able to leave behind a passed out Pokemon to defend it. So make sure your favorite option survives the battle.
Special moves are not always good: It's tempting to use the special move the moment it's charged, but if it's a large one, it might be best to wait until it can be used as a finishing blow. Additionally, be sure to take advantage by relentlessly attacking your enemies when they're charging up a special.
Understand your enemy: As we explained in the types section, an important theory in Pokemon is knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your adversary. Before going into battle, be sure to assess your enemy's kind and use or train Pokemon that has kind advantages over the opposing team.
The gym system is a bit complicated, and you might be wondering why you should be bothering with it at all. There are two main benefits of interacting with gyms: experience and bonus items.
There are two alternatives for logging into Pokemon Go. The easier approach will be to use an existing Google account. Otherwise, players can either sign in with or sign up for a Pokemon Trainer Club account, which comes with extra privileges. Included in these are a subscription to a monthly newsletter, which occasionally offers download codes for rare Pokemon.
Long response: Trainers can select which of the three they would like to capture and, at the ending of the world's simplest battle, whoever they picked will now be theirs.
You don't have to go it alone: It's possible for you to join up with other members of your team when fighting to take over enemy gyms.
Practice dodging: In your first battles, you'll likely merely pat furiously away at the attack buttons, and this is most likely a decent strategy if your Pokemon has a considerably higher CP than its rival. But to win close conflicts or battles where you are the underdog, you will have to get great at dodging, especially at dodging huge special attacks.
There are some methods for your trainer to get XP. Each level’s full XP demand corresponds to the level number, so at 1000 XP, you end level one and go onto degree two, subsequently 2000 XP later, you move onto level three which needs 3000 XP before you can hit level four and so on. There's no way to battle in gyms — the places on your own map with the enormous Pokémon GO PokéStop in Menzies QLD 4825 hovering over them, that look like some futuristic cone — without getting to degree five. So, how 's best to get there quickly? Wiretap on every PokéStop you can. They've items in them, when they're blue, and you get a bit of experience, which helps out a ton in the early goings. You can return to Pokéstops over and over, and they flip over fairly quickly (about five minutes as far as we can tell). As you walk around, you may feel your telephone vibrate. That means a Pokémon is not far! Pat it, swipe to throw a Poké Ball at it, and it is yours. You'll get lots of experience for doing this, so do it as often as possible.
