In Pokemon Go, conflicts only happen at gyms. In case you are challenging an enemy gym, you can select a squad of six Pokemon that will be sent out in turn.
If you happen to be in the "what is a Pokemon" stage of your investigation, we've made an additional guide: Six Pokemon Go tips for the ultimate beginner.
You sure can! Nicknames must only be spelled with letters and numbers, and if you've got a common name, you may already be out of luck: There are no duplicates allowed. (To whoever already took the name "Allegra," we have got our eye on you.) Naming apart, there are several skin tones, hair colors, and outfits to choose from. The selection is marginally less varied than what's available in Pokemon X and Y, for reference.
We are still in the early periods of Pokemon Go knowledge. There are many unanswered questions, for example, "Does pitching a whirling Pokball increase the odds of a successful capture?" But this guide will be enough to give you an edge over your buddies and neighbors.
You can also help fortify gyms belonging to your team by training and testing your Pokemon there. A gym gets prestige for each battle it wins, even if it's a player of its team. So you could battle against friendly Pokemon repeatedly until your gym gets another amount, that will then open up another defensive spot, and allow you to give one of your Pokemon to the gym's fortification. Take into account that whichever Pokemon you leave behind will not be available for anything else unless it gets kicked out of the gym by an enemy team.
Swap for kinds: Swapping out a Pokemon leaves it vulnerable to attack for a few seconds, so you might be hesitant to do it.
Don't let the Pokemon you want to leave at the gym faint: If you successfully choose a gym, you will not be able to leave behind a fainted Pokemon to defend it. So make certain your favorite choice survives the battle.
Special moves are not always great: It is tempting to use the particular move when it's charged, but if it's a huge one, it might be better to wait until it can be used as a finishing blow. Because the specific move will leave you static and unable to dodge, and may have a cooldown time, fire it'll open you up to a frenzy of attacks. Also, make sure to take advantage by relentlessly attacking your enemies when they can be charging up a particular.
Understand your enemy: As we explained in the types section, an important notion in Pokemon is knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your competition. Before going into battle, make sure you assess your enemy's type and use or train Pokemon that has kind advantages over the opposing team.
The gym system is a little complicated, and you might be wondering why you should be bothering with it in any way. There are two principal advantages of socializing with gyms: encounter and bonus items.
There are two choices for logging into Pokemon Go. The easier approach would be to use an existing Google account. Otherwise, players can either sign in with or sign up for a Pokemon Trainer Club account, which comes with additional privileges. Included in these are a subscription to a monthly newsletter, which occasionally offers download codes for rare Pokemon.
Long reply: Once your trainer has a name, Professor Willow --- this game's leading Pokemon scholar --- will walk you through catching Pokemon. He does not outright give you a starter, instead directing you to the open map around you, where a Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle appear out of nowhere. Trainers can choose which of the three they would like to capture and, at the ending of the world's easiest battle, whoever they decided will now be theirs.
You don't have to go it alone: It's possible for you to join up with other members of your team when fighting to take over enemy gyms.
Practice dodging: In your first battles, you will probably just tap furiously away at the attack buttons, and this is probably a decent strategy if your Pokemon has a much higher CP than its opponent. But to win close conflicts or battles where you are the underdog, you will need to get great at dodging, particularly at dodging big specific attacks.
There are some methods for your trainer to get XP. Each amount’s full XP demand corresponds to the level number, so at 1000 XP, you conclude level one and go onto degree two, then 2000 XP afterwards, you move onto level three which needs 3000 XP before you can hit level four and so on. There's no means to battle in health clubs — the locations on your own map with the massive Pokémon GO PokéStop in Quorn SA 5433 hovering over them, that look like some futuristic cone — without getting to degree five. So, how 's better to get there fast? Wiretap on every PokéStop you can. They've things in them when they're blue, and you get a little experience, which helps a ton in the early goings out. You can return to Pokéstops over and over, and they flip over pretty fast (about five minutes as far as we can tell). You may believe your telephone vibrate as you walk around. That means a Pokémon is near! Pat on it, swipe to throw a Poké Ball at it, and it's yours. You'll get a lot of encounter for doing this, so do it as often as possible.
