As the keen writer, I am, I needed to compose an article about it. But of course, that would mean I 'd have to play. I did not desire to play this Pokemon game. I have never once in my life had the want to play anything that has to do with Pokemon. For the sake of this post, though, I pitched all of those thoughts away and walked around for an hour and a half attempting to figure out this Pokemon craze.
The Pokemon card game is quite popular with children. Likewise, we get the stats on a Pokemon, and it is rather like a robot. But that is not so in the imagination. In the imagination it is something alive. And if we do something to it like make it shiny (shiny daikon cards), it becomes even more valuable and living. The question is this then: in a networking game like Second Life are you a robot? Will Pokemon ever become real?
It only does not make lots of sense to me how extreme people got when I played. It is nearly like the hundreds of people in downtown Springfield, Missouri, had viewed a tweet saying, "There're a thousand dollars someplace downtown, go find it!" or "Beyonce is in downtown Springfield. Go locate her!" Because all of a sudden, I'd see a group of four teenage boys running down the road, phones in hand. Obviously, no. Those lads weren't after cash or Beyonce. They were not after anything concrete, anything with a real reward or result, for that matter.
If the dream behind a game is powerful enough, it can bring about spinoffs. Conversely, something that's popular like Ultraman can result in a game. But games usually remain games and toys stay playthings. Pokemon has seen very great spinoff (though it's not taking the world by storm) because of its intriguing notion. This is where the robot is left behind, and the human imagination starts to reach out and explore.
I began by walking around downtown Springfield, Missouri, with a friend. My friend is really into Pokemon Go. He has spent the last week walking around parks and sites through the city trying to get unfamiliar virtual creatures. He tried to teach me how.
Geeks design and fight their 'bots' with an extremely powerful egotism: they designed the robot; they're pitting their skill against their competitor's. When a premise, or story, is put into a game that all changes. So it becomes a fantasy world in which the object would be to get the greatest Pokemon that one can use it 'attribute' to the best of one's ability. When losing, one can nearly believe the Pokemon let him down, wasn't strong enough, or whatever. He may blame himself partially, but not totally.
Pokemon enthusiasts throughout the world may shun me, but my conclusion is that I still do not understand the craze. I don't understand how people do not get bored with it after a few minutes and how they get so passionate about funny-looking characters on an app. I don't understand why anyone would spend time on something daft like Pokemon Go. That being said, it is not my place to tell the world to quit doing what they love. If you desire to play, then play. But I, for one, will not.
If a Pokemon appears, you have to throw a virtual Poke Ball at it to capture it. Then you certainly walk and walk and walk some more to capture more Pokemon. Apparently, you occasionally can steal Pokemon from others and have battles with other users also. That part is over my head.
