For the previous week or so, all I 've seen on social media websites are folks posting about playing Pokemon Go. So many folks have been saying, "This is the game I Have been waiting for my entire life," or "I used to play Pokemon as a child and now I get to play it as a twenty-year old who has nothing better to do on a Tuesday night," or "It Is lots of enjoyment and an excellent means to get out of the house." As the serious writer, I am, I wanted to compose an article about it. But of course, that would mean I would need to play. I did not need to play this Pokemon game. I 've never once in my life had the want to play anything that's to do with Pokemon. For the sake of this post, however, I pitched all of those ideas aside and walked around for an hour and a half attempting to figure out this Pokemon craze.
The Pokemon card game is very popular with children. You may not believe that that has anything whatsoever to do with robots, but if you let your sense go a little 'fuzzy' I believe we can find robotic concepts in all life- that in fact machines were meant to replace things humans do and robot 'humanizes' the machine even more because of more extensive parameters. Similarly, we get the stats on a Pokemon, and it's rather like a robot. But that is not so in the imagination. In the imagination it's something living. And if we do something to it like make it glossy (glistening daikon cards), it becomes even more valuable and living. But the bottom line truth to all computer games is that they are robots.
It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me how extreme people got when I played. It's nearly like the hundreds of people in downtown Springfield, Missouri, had seen a tweet saying, "There're a thousand dollars someplace downtown, go find it!" or "Beyonce is in downtown Springfield. Go find her!" Because all of a sudden, I Had see a group of four teenage boys running down the street, phones in hand. Clearly, no. Those lads were not after cash or Beyonce. They were not after anything concrete, anything with a genuine reward or outcome, for that matter.
If the fantasy behind a game is strong enough, it can result in spinoffs. Conversely, something that's popular like Ultraman can lead to a game. But games normally remain games and toys stay playthings. Pokemon has seen really good spinoff (though it's not taking the world by storm) because of its fascinating concept. This is where the robot is left behind, and the human imagination starts to reach out and explore.
I started by walking around downtown Springfield, Missouri, with a buddy. My buddy is very into Pokemon Go. He has spent the last week walking around parks and sites throughout the city trying to get strange virtual creatures. He attempted to teach me how.
The imagination is a funny thing. Geeks design and fight their 'bots' with a very strong ego: they designed the robot; they are matching their skill against their adversary's. When a premise, or story, is set into a game that all changes. So it becomes a fantasy world at which object is really to obtain the greatest Pokemon that one can use it 'feature' to the best of one's ability. When losing, one can almost feel the Pokemon let him down, was not powerful enough, or whatever. He may blame himself partially, but not totally.
Pokemon fans through the world may shun me, but my judgment is that I still don't understand the craze. I do not comprehend how people don't get bored with it after a few minutes and how they get so enthusiastic about funny-looking characters on an app. I don't understand why anyone would spend time on something silly like Pokemon Go. That being said, it's not my place to tell the world to quit doing what they love. If you want to play, then play. But I, for one, will not.
All I grabbed in the hour and a half of playing is that you walk around aimlessly as your avatar on the Pokemon Go app walks to PokeStops, where you could possibly catch a Pokemon. If a Pokemon appears, you've got to throw a virtual Poke Ball at it to catch it. Then you definitely walk and walk and walk some more to catch more Pokemon. Apparently, you sometimes can snitch Pokemon from others and have conflicts with other users too. That component is over my head.
