Specific moves aren't always good: It's tempting to use the particular move the moment it's charged, but if it's a huge one, it might be best to wait until it can be used as a finishing blow. Also, make sure to take advantage by relentlessly attacking your enemies when they can be charging up a special.
Understand your enemy: As we explained in the types section, an important notion in Pokemon is understanding the strengths and weaknesses of your opponent. Before going into battle, make sure you check your enemy's kind and use or train Pokemon that's kind advantages over the opposing team.
The gym system is a bit complicated, and you may be wondering why you should be bothering with it whatsoever. There are two main advantages of socializing with gyms: encounter and bonus things.
