Welcome! Since we have been playing the game since the beta and we're happy to share what we've learned thus far with those less fortunate. Check back, since we're updating this guide regularly.
In Pokemon Go, conflicts only occur at gyms. In case you are challenging an enemy gym, you can pick a squad of six Pokemon which is sent out in turn.
If you happen to be in the "what is a Pokemon" phase of your investigation, we've made an additional guide: Six Pokemon Go hints for the ultimate beginner.
You sure can! (To whoever already chose the name "Allegra," we have got our eye on you.) Naming apart, there are several skin tones, hair colors, and ensembles to choose from. The choice is marginally less varied than what's obtainable in Pokemon X and Y, for reference.
We are still in the early phases of Pokemon Go knowledge. There are many unanswered questions, for example, "Does tossing a spinning Pokball increase the chances of a successful capture?" But this guide will be enough to give you an advantage over your friends and neighbors.
You may also help fortify gyms belonging to your team by training and testing your Pokemon there. A gym gets stature for each battle it wins, even if it's a player of its team. So you could battle against friendly Pokemon repeatedly until your gym gets another amount, that will then open up another defensive spot, and allow you to contribute one of your Pokemon to the gym's fortification. Bear in mind that whichever Pokemon you leave behind will not be accessible for anything else unless it gets kicked out of the gym by an enemy team.
Swap for sorts: Swapping out a Pokemon leaves it vulnerable to attack for a few seconds, so you may be reluctant to do it.
Do not let the Pokemon you desire to leave at the gym pass out: If you successfully take a gym, you will not be able to leave behind a passed out Pokemon to defend it. So make sure your preferred alternative survives the battle.
Specific moves aren't consistently great: It is tempting to use the specific move as soon as it's charged, but if it's a large one, it might be best to wait until it can be used as a finishing blow. Because the special move will leave you static and unable to dodge, and may have a cooldown time, firing it will open you up to a frenzy of assaults. Also, make sure to take advantage by relentlessly attacking your enemies when they're charging up a specific.
Know your enemy: As we clarified in the types section, an important concept in Pokemon is understanding the strengths and weaknesses of your adversary. Before going into battle, make sure to assess your enemy's kind and use or train Pokemon that has type edges over the opposing team.
The gym system is somewhat complicated, and you may be wondering why you should be bothering with it whatsoever. There are two principal benefits of socializing with gyms: encounter and bonus items.
There are two options for logging into Pokemon Go. The simpler approach would be to use an existing Google account. Otherwise, players can either sign in with or sign up for a Pokemon Trainer Club account, which comes with additional privileges. Included in these are a subscription to a monthly newsletter, which sometimes offers download codes for rare Pokemon.
Long answer: After your trainer has a name, Professor Willow --- this game's leading Pokemon scholar --- will walk you through catching Pokemon. He doesn't outright give you a starter, rather directing you to the open map around you, where a Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle appear out of nowhere. Trainers can choose which of the three they would like to get and, at the conclusion of the world's easiest battle, whoever they picked will now be theirs.
You don't have to go it alone: You can join up with other members of your team when fighting to take over enemy gyms. Your teammate can attack exactly the same enemy Pokemon like you, and you'll be able to make your way through the enemy gym together.
Practice dodging: In your first battles, you'll probably just pat furiously away at the attack buttons, and this is most likely a decent strategy if your Pokemon has a substantially higher CP than its rival. But to win close battles or conflicts where you are the underdog, you'll have to get good at dodging, particularly at dodging big specific attacks.
There are some means for your trainer to get XP. Each level’s full XP requirement corresponds to the degree amount, so at 1000 XP, you end level one and go onto level two, subsequently 2000 XP later, you move onto level three which needs 3000 XP before you can reach level four and so on. There's no means to battle in health clubs — the locations on your map with the massive Pokémon GO PokéStop in Drysdale River WA 6740 hovering over them, that look like some futuristic cone — without getting to level five. So, how 's better to get there quickly? Tap on every PokéStop you can. They have items in them, when they are blue, and you get a little bit of expertise, which helps out a ton in the early goings. You can return to Pokéstops over and over, and they flip over fairly fast (about five minutes as far as we can tell). As you walk around, you may feel your telephone vibrate. That means a Pokémon is not far! Pat on it, swipe to throw a Poké Ball at it, and it is yours. You will get lots of encounter for doing this, so do it as often as possible.
